For 11 members of the Lewistown Hoppers, a jump roping group organized by Lorraine Day, Christmas came 20 days early this year. Right before Thanksgiving, Day received a phone call from a Miles City mother. The mother wanted to invite the Hoppers to a birthday party for her soon-to-be 9-year-old daughter, Erin. But this wasn’t just any birthday party for Erin. She has terminal brain cancer so this birthday might be the last one she will celebrate.

Gertrude (Rooney) Lindgren
Gertrude Theresa (Rooney) Lindgren, 93, a longtime Great Falls resident and civic leader, died of natural causes Tuesday at a local hospital.
Marguerite E. "Margy" Day
Marguerite E. “Margy” Day, 95, died Tuesday evening, December 15, 2009 at the Central Montana Medical Center due to complications from congestive heart failure.
Dennis O. Thompson
Dennis Owen Thompson, 54, a long-time Belt resident, died Friday at a local hospital from heart-related complications.

Each year the Montana Quarter Horse Association (MQHA) honors an individual who has positively impacted the growth of MQHA and the promotion of the American Quarter Horse. The award is determined under the direction of the Board of Directors. The MQHA is an affiliate of the American Quarter Horse Association. This year’s recipient is Stan Weaver of Big Sandy. Stan’s wife Nancy is the owner of Weaver Ranch Properties , a farm and ranch broker, of Lewistown.
