Marian LaFranboise

Marian LaFranboise, 101, of Lewistown passed away Nov. 23, 2017. She was born Aug. 23, 1916 on the family homestead near Tyler, Montana. She was one of 10 children born to Nels and Tressa Johnson.

Like most children of the depression, Marian learned to work early on and developed the strong work ethic typical of tha era.On June 28, 1935 she married Bob LaFranboise of the Tyler community.  They spent their early years at the N Bar Ranch where they were both employed. Bob enlisted in the Army and served in Europe during WWII. After the war they went to work for John McVay until his ranch sold in 1967. From there they moved to Lewistown where they worked various jobs, before eventually retiring from the Central Montana Center for the Aged. After Bob’s passing in 1995, Marian stayed in the family home on Shields Street before moving to an apartment on Main. She moved to Billings in 2013 to be near family.

Bob and Marian had a son, Richard and a daughter, Bonnie, who now live in Billings. Marian was a member of the Montana Cowbells and the Eastern Star. Her greatest posession was her faith, Jesus Christ. She never got over the loss of her “Pa” and loved him for 82 years; they are now together.

Survivors include her two children; son Richard (Kim) LaFranboise and daughter Bonnie LaFranboise. Four grandchildren Tanna (Mike) Hudson, Amber (Justin) Caster, Tressa LaFromboise and JB (Carrie) Walling, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
