John Vanek oils his family’s 15 horsepower M. Rumley steam engine, which his dad, David Vanek, Jr., restored many years ago. John used the 1900 model to run the threshing machine during a demonstration at Pioneer Power Days in Lewistown. He has proudly helped operate the machine for 10 or so years and said, “I’m 21 and it’s 121 years old so we’re exactly 100 years apart.”
