Boaters should clean, drain, dry

Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start to summer in Montana, and boaters and anglers need to remember to clean, drain and dry their watercraft and gear before leaving a water access site. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks and partner agencies operate more than 25 road-side watercraft inspection stations across the state.

Did you know stroke is the leading cause of disability in the U.S.? It’s also the fifth leading cause of death, according to the American Stroke Association. The ASA is hoping to change those statistics through education, especially this month, as May is Stroke Awareness month. 

Every year close to 800,000 Americans have a stroke, which occurs when blood flow to the brain is blocked. Depending on the type of stroke, severity and which part of the brain is affected, those who survive will be affected differently. But one thing is clear: recovery means hard work.

The Montana Walleye Circuit season kicked off May 14 with the Crooked Creek Classic. Due to low water levels, this year’s Crooked Creek tournament was held at Fort Peck Marina. Originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 13-14, the start date was postponed due to high wind forecasts.

Lewistown hosts Class B/C State softball tournament

Teams from around the state descended upon Lewistown at the D’Autremont Complex to compete in the MHSA Class B/C State softball tournament this weekend. Eight teams have been vying for a chance at the state championship trophy, and have tough competition to get it.
