4-H develops true leaders

Local legislator Dan Bartel enjoyed breakfast with Lewistown 4-Hers at the Legislative Breakfast in Helena, Montana, on Jan. 17.

Lewistown 4-H was represented by Helen Bolton, Quincy and Joe Workman and Peter Bolton.

This event was well attended by numerous legislators. Senators Roger Webb, Eric Moore, Cary Smith and House Representatives Barry Usher, Sue Vinton, Peggy Webb and Dennis Lenz also sat with these 4Hers at breakfast.

Discussion of 4-H projects along with their challenges and successes were shared over breakfast.

Guest speaker, and 4-H alumni, James Brown, spoke of the communication and lifelong skills gained from 4-H. Brown’s interactive speech, had all shouting, “4-H grows true leaders.”

Concluding his speech, he took off his tie and collared shirt, revealing a green undershirt, proclaiming, “At the heart of every leader is a 4-Her!”
