Fiber art and quilt show

Hats off to the talented quilters and fiber artists in the Central Montana community. The entries in this year’s Montana Winter Fair offer all of the best components of fine artistry in the fabric medium. Combining the tradition of quilting with individual creativity, this show provides the viewer with stunning color palettes, contemporary quilting techniques and unique artistic statements.

This past Saturday, the Art Center was definitely the hub of creative energy with Jane Lund’s needle felting class, Shawna Crawford’s quilting class, demonstrations of spinning and weaving, and a trunk show with beautiful felted and handmade items. For information on future fiber classes, please contact the Art Center. This show remains on display until Feb. 11.

Watercolor workshop

The Art Center is proud to host a diversity of professional artist workshops to our friends and neighbors in Central Montana. Our next offering is a chance for all the painters out there to gain some practice in the art of watercolor.

Gallery owner and long-time Montana artisan Peter Jones will join us on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 10 a.m.– 4 p.m. to share his insight and specific techniques for creating incredible landscape paintings. Beginners and advanced painters are welcome to attend. There is a fee that includes all materials and instruction to take home a completed work of art. Please stop by or call us at 585-8278 to register.

SNAC: Sip and Paint

Ever find yourself thinking, “It would be fun to do something creative, but I’m just not ‘artistic’.”? Searching for a new venue to meet people and see friends? Try out Social Night at the Art Center (SNAC).

Every third Wednesday of the month we host a casual “No Experience Necessary” art lesson, complete with all the materials you will need to create your own project.

February’s SNAC is “Sip and Paint.” We’ll guide you through step-by-step instructions to make a 12x16” acrylic canvas painting, ready to take home and impress friends and family. There is a fee that includes all materials and light appetizers. Participants are encouraged to bring their own beverages of choice. Space is limited, so register early at the Art Center or by visiting us online at www.lewistownartcenter.net.

In the Wilkins Gallery

The photographic fine artwork by artist Larry Blackwood will be on display from Feb. 24 until March 31. Blackwood is a self-taught photographer with more than 40 years experience. He exhibits regularly in museums and galleries around the country and recently in China as well, including ten solo exhibitions in the last five years.

His work has been published in major fine art photography publications including multiple portfolios in Lenswork and Black and White. Awards include prizes in international photography competitions as well as fine art grants and artist residencies. We thank Larry and Kathi Carrell for sponsoring this show.
