Membership drive

The Lewistown Art Center is ramping up for this year’s membership drive. Keep an eye on your mailbox, or stop by the LAC for information about joining us in the coming year. LAC completely reformatted its membership, now offering member benefits at every level. Get deals at local businesses, member prices on classes, become a member of the North American Reciprocal Museum Association and get member benefits at over 890 cultural institutions in the U.S. Members of the LAC also have access to our studio spaces, get discounts on venue rentals (birthdays, meetings, weddings, parties, etc.), and invitations to special events.

Forty-five year membership celebration

Everyone likes a party. Join the Lewistown Art Center on Saturday, May 20 to celebrate you, our members and community. We’ll see you at the John Turner Education Building on Brewery Flats for barbecue fun, live music and more. Family and kid activities begin at 2 p.m., and we’ll start grilling and playing music around 4 p.m. Dress for the weather, bring your lawn chairs and picnic blankets, and come celebrate arts and culture in Lewistown. Stop by LAC in May to grab your ticket (for headcount purposes). We look forward to seeing you there.

Summer Fun camps

The Lewistown Art Center is proud to offer Central Montana kids a place to engage and explore their world. This summer we will take the classroom outdoors, collaborate on public art projects, learn new skills and have fun with friends. Join us for a sunny season of art, science and play. Summer Fun camps run twice a month, Monday through Wednesday, with a morning session (9:30 a.m.-12 p.m., K-third grade) and afternoon session (1-4 p.m., fourth-eighth grade). Please check out our website for details on camp themes and registration information.

Bob Ross oil painting workshop

Dreaming of painting sweeping skies and stunning landscapes? Looking for a new outlet to pour your creative energy? Join us for a landscape-painting workshop designed especially for beginners seeking to build new skills. Certified instructor Don Dixson of Stanford, Montana will lead this full-day workshop, guiding participants through the wet-on-wet oil painting technique. All materials will be provided to create your own majestic mountain landscape painting. The workshop is Saturday, April 29, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; pre-register online at or stop in to sign up.

SNAC: garden planters

As the days get longer and the world greens up, we’re all excited to start spring garden projects. At the May 17 Social Night at the Art Center, we’ll be creating decorative D.I.Y. flower and herb planters to spruce up the porch or patio. This is our chance to kick back in a low-pressure atmosphere, meet new friends, learn some new skills and let our creativity run wild. Festivities start at 6:30 p.m., with all supplies and light appetizers provided. Bring your own beverages and bring your friends. Social Night is held every third Wednesday of the month. Projects vary and space is limited so please let us know if you plan to attend. Register online or call us at 535-8278 to learn more.

The Lewistown Art Center promotes art, art education and art appreciation in Central Montana. Regular hours are Tuesday – Friday from 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is always free.
