Gingers on Ice

The Lewistown Art Center is thrilled to announce the Lewistown debut of the comedy duo Gingers on Ice, composed of Lewistown native Jacob Godbey and his comedic partner-in-crime, Alex Tait.

Based out of Missoula, Gingers on Ice gives audiences an innovative comedic experience, combining the sketch comedy, improv, stand-up and short films. The Gingers on Ice show is constantly changing, so be sure not to miss this one-time event.

Comedy night will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24 with a gourmet dog bar, and performances will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with local singer-songwriter Charlie Denison. We’ll welcome Gingers on Ice to the stage at 7:30. All of Comedy Night will be held at the Slater building, next to Bank of the Rockies.

Tickets may be purchased at the Lewistown Art Center, and they are selling quickly. Get yours soon. The Lewistown Art Center is grateful to our volunteers, ArtWorks, for their generous sponsorship of this event.

Author’s Event

Don’t forget about our local Author’s Event on Saturday, Aug. 26 from 2-5 p.m. Join Marcia Losh and Runi Arnold for “Children’s Hour” from 2-3 p.m., featuring a reading of their book “If Everybody Did It,” and a special paper collage workshop with Runi. This is a great activity, so bring your little ones to learn about creating a layered, collage masterpiece.

From 3-5 p.m., join us for light refreshments and live music as several authors will be on hand to sign copies of their texts and answer questions. While the roster isn’t final, Marcia Losh, Runi Arnold, Maxine Melton, Lisa Ferguson and Louise Langford will all join us. Don’t miss out on this special literary event, we’ll see you there.

Social Night

Join us every third Wednesday of the month for Social Night at the LAC. These events are social gatherings with easy-to-follow instructions, so all attendees leave with an artistic masterpiece.

Join us this Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 6:30 p.m. to embrace chokecherries. We’ll make our own chokecherry liqueur, using Lewistown recipes, and design our own custom jars and labels – perfect for gifts or sharing. Call us at 535-8278, or stop the LAC to pre-register; these events fill up fast.

Consider entering the Chokecherry Culinary Contest at the Chokecherry Festival on Sept. 9. We accept all entries, from children to professionals, of chokecherry-based dishes, from cookies and cake to savory main courses. Entries are due at the Art Center between 8-9 a.m. on the day of the Festival, Sept. 9. Judging takes place at 9 a.m., with prizes awarded for different categories as well as Best in Show.

The public is invited to come sample the goodies until noon. Registration for the Culinary Contest is free and open to all.
