“Hands on Art” after-school program

We’re so excited to start Hands on Art once again. Open to kids of all artistic strengths and abilities, our after-school program is a great chance for students to explore new art mediums and techniques in an encouraging, inclusive setting. Classes run Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5 p.m. starting Oct. 2, and kids can take the bus right from school to the Art Center. For more scheduling information visit us online at www.lewistownartcenter.net or call 535-8278.

Gallery reception: Jill Brody, “Hidden in Plain Sight”

Join us from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 6 for an opening reception in the Margie Wilkins Gallery, and meet the artist who will have her work on display through the month of October.

Jill Brody has visited and photographed rural life in Montana for over 20 years. The Hutterite Colonies of Liberty County presented photographer Jill Brody with a unique set of opportunities and challenges. Her exhibit, “Hidden in Plain Sight,” features a selection of her photographs from the project that tell a story of faith, community and perseverance.

We thank Mary Frieze for sponsoring this event, keeping it free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Oktoberfest

Fall is finally here, and that means it’s time for another round of polka. The Lewistown Art Center’s Oktoberfest is always a ton of German-inspired fun with games, dancing, great food and plenty to drink. This year’s festivities will take place on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 5-9 p.m. Tickets are on sale now; visit us online or stop by the Art Center to pick yours up.

Social Night at the Art Center

Social Night at the Art Center is your chance to get creative with the liveliest bunch of people around. SNAC is held the third Wednesday every month, and is a great way to make new friends and get inspired.

October’s Sip and Paint event is full, but there is still time to register for our Nov. 15 program, Holiday Wreath Making. Bring along your favorite beverage as we learn to craft boughs and ribbons into dazzling seasonal displays. This popular evening class is sure to sell out quickly so don’t wait; reserve your space today.

Clay Club for grown folk

We have a professional, well-stocked ceramics studio here at the Art Center, and we’d love to share it with you. Join us Tuesday evenings, from 6:30-9:30 p.m., in the Ken Edwards Clay Studio for a chance to explore this incredible resource, and meet some like-minded folks for inspiration.

These casual get-togethers are open to everyone, regardless of skill level or experience in ceramics. Just bring along your favorite snacks or beverage, a few pals and a willingness to get your hands dirty. No pre-registration is required but give us a call at 535-8278 if you have questions.

The Lewistown Art Center promotes art, art education and art appreciation in Central Montana. Regular hours are Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is always free. Join the “ArtWorks” volunteer group every third Wednesday at 11 a.m. to support the Art Center in accomplishing its mission. New members and volunteers are always welcome; for information call 535-8278.
