WinterSongs this Saturday

It’s here. The musical event of the season is upon us, and the Lewistown Art Center is thrilled to welcome back Central Montana’s most talented musicians to the Jack’s Hangar stage. This Saturday, WinterSongs will be sure to warm your spirit with some joyful songs, delicious treats, and wonderful auction items. The WinterSongs concert benefits the Lewistown Art Center and helps make our youth education and community programming possible.

This Saturday, Dec. 16, Jack’s Hangar will open its doors at 6 p.m. for gourmet hors d’ouvres and a no-host bar. Food is included in your ticket this year, and the LAC chefs are whipping up some fantastic dishes. The Lewistown Art Center is hosting a silent auction, and a live auction during intermission. Experiences up for bid during the live auction include Showdown tickets, Red Ants Pass Day passes, a “Stay and Sleigh” package from Lone Mountain Resort, and stays at the Judith Mountain Lodge and the Union Hotel in Fort Benton.

In addition to some wonderful auction items, attendees will also have the chance to buy a raffle ticket to win a Bill Ryder sculpture. This gorgeous metal sculpture would be the perfect addition, inside or out, to any Central Montana home or business.

The Lewistown Art Center is so excited for this event, and we’re grateful to the wonderful community of musicians that make this happen, year after year. Tickets are available at the Lewistown Art Center and selling fast. Get yours now.

Storytelling Social Night

Calling all yarn spinnin,’ tall tale tellin,’ and general yik yakkers. We want to hear your story. Any story, really. Join us on Wednesday, Dec. 20, for our Storytelling Social Night. This low-cost Social Night is a perfect way to see your friends, make new ones and celebrate the connecting spirit of the season. While you aren’t required to tell a story, we encourage interested folks to toss their name in the hat. This is a low-pressure, uncompetitive and friendly atmosphere; don’t be shy. We’ll have tasty snacks and hot drinks but, as always, you’re welcome to bring your own, or even a treat to share. Join us at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 20 for this wonderful event; we’re looking forward to it.

In the Wilkins Gallery

As painter Marcia Ballowe writes, “Painting nature is a consuming love,” and this is evident in our current exhibition in the Margie Wilkins Gallery at the Lewistown Art Center. Ballowe joins her fellow members of the Montana Painters Alliance in displaying works inspired by the light and land of Central Montana.

In the fall of 2016, the MPA (a professional artists’ group) traveled to Central Montana for one of their biannual “paint outs,” spending four days painting scenic vistas and reconnecting with friends and colleagues. During their time in Lewistown, the MPA was rained out, and members of the Charlie Russell Chew Choo Salt Creek Gang were kind enough to model for a figure session in the LAC basement. Come spot your favorite train robber or local lookout at this marvelous display of Montana talent.

This exhibition will be up until the end of the month, so don’t miss it. The Lewistown Art Center is grateful to Larry and Kathi Carrell for their sponsorship of this exhibition.

The Lewistown Art Center promotes art, art education and art appreciation in Central Montana. Regular hours are Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is always free. Join the “ArtWorks” volunteer group on the second Tuesday of each month, at 9 a.m. to support the Art Center in accomplishing its mission. New members and volunteers are always welcome; for information call 535-8278.
