Thanks for your patience

The Lewistown Art Center will be closed from Jan. 1–22 for some much-needed TLC and inventory. We’re looking forward to making our classrooms more functional, filling our freshly painted gallery with new art, and representing new artisans and makers in the coming year. If you need us, perhaps to purchase tickets for “On Golden Pond” or to renew your membership, call 535-8278 to set up an appointment, and we’ll open up, just for you.

Don’t forget about Social Night at the Art Center. This third Wednesday, Jan. 17, we’ll host a Tropical Painting Social Night from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Bring a friend, or make a new one, and leave feeling refreshed, creative, and accomplished with your canvas and acrylic masterpiece in tow. Snacks are provided, so bring your favorite beverage and grow your skills in a fun, low-pressure, and educational artistic experience. Registration is required and these fill up fast. Call 535-8278 to speak to Leah, our program director, or sign up online at www.lewistownartcenter.net.

The Lewistown Art Center will re-open on Tuesday, Jan. 23, just in time for the Winter Fair. The Lewistown Art Center is thrilled to host the Quilt Show, Fiber Arts Show and workshops during the Montana Winter Fair. Stop by between Tuesday, Jan. 23 and Saturday, Jan. 27 to peek at some of the best quilts and fiber art in Montana. We’re proud to feature the work of such talented folks, and you can learn some new skills to enter for next year. Consider taking one of the following classes and register at the LAC by calling 535-8278.

On Friday, Jan. 26, Shawna Crawford and Gerri Campbell will teach a paper piecing class from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Cherilee Martin will teach beginning tatting at the same time. On Saturday, consider trying needle felting with Jane Lund from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., making fiber-based greeting cards with Julie Norman from 10 a.m.-noon, or trying beginning drop spindle spinning with Julie from 1-5 p.m. Some courses may require materials or a fee.

This is an excellent opportunity to speak to some fiber and quilting experts, learn some new skills, and meet friends with similar interests. We’re thrilled to be hosting these classes, and can’t wait to show you all that Montana’s thriving fiber art scene has to offer.

The Lewistown Art Center promotes art, art education and art appreciation in Central Montana. Regular hours are Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is always free. Join the “ArtWorks” volunteer group on the second Tuesday of each month, at 9 a.m. to support the Art Center in accomplishing its mission. New members and volunteers are always welcome; for information call 535-8278.
