Athlete of the Week

Sam Fulbright

Sophomore Sam Fulbright has been having a phenomenal year on the cross-country trails. On Saturday, he led the Golden Eagles to a third-place finish at the Havre Invitational. Sam was the first individual racer to cross the finish line in the varsity race. His 5-K time of 17:22 was 16 seconds faster than he ran last year on the three-mile course in Havre.
The week before at the Fergus home invitational Sam was the second finisher to cross the finish line in the boys’ competition. Sam is pushing senior teammate Noah Majerus, who finished third at the FHS Invitational.
Last year as a freshman Sam finished in the top 15 at the Class C State Meet, which was held in Kalispell. It is fairly unusual to find a freshman boy finishing in the top 15 at state.
Sam will continue to work hard over the next few weeks in order to be at his best come state cross-country meet time. He wants to improve upon his 14th state place from last year and also help his team win another state trophy.
