Athlete of the Week

Trinity Edwards

Freshman Trinity Edwards had a busy fall sports season. Trinity was a member of the freshman and junior varsity volleyball teams, and she also participated in cross-country for the Golden Eagles during the fall. Cross-country Coach Suzie Flentie held early morning practices for Trinity, so not to interfere with her volleyball practices.
Although Trinity was not able to participate in all of the cross-country meets during the season, she did compete at the Fergus Invitational in mid-September. At this meet held at Pine Meadows Golf Course, Trinity was the first Fergus girl to cross the finish line at the home meet. She finished 21st overall to help her team finish fourth.
At the Fall Classic Central A Divisional Meet, which was held in Livingston, Trinity was the third Fergus girl to cross the finish line. She finished sixth overall. The Fergus girls won the divisional meet.
At the state meet, Trinity helped her team finish ninth in the Class A competition. Trinity was the first Fergus girl to cross the finish line. Her 34th-place time of 21:53 was a season PR for Trinity. Her time also tied the school record for the new 5K distance, which is now being run by cross-country runners in the state. This is the first year cross-country runners have run the new distance.
