Athlete of the Week

Cody Henderson

Fergus High School senior Cody Henderson played the game of his career on Friday against Park. Cody scored 12 points in the big win over the Rangers. He hit two 3-point baskets in the first half and then went four-for-four from the free-throw line down the stretch in the fourth quarter.

This is Cody’s first year of being a starter on the varsity for Coach Scott Sparks. He is also one of the hardest workers for Coach Sparks. His role as a guard has taken on more importance since the loss of his teammate, Andrew Lalum, on the basketball court. Lalum is out for the season due to a knee injury.

Although Cody did not score in the Saturday game against Billings Central, he did bring Fergus fans to their feet when he threw an alley-oop pass toward the Fergus basket in the second half. Teammate Jaden Graham jumped in the air, caught the pass and put the ball in the basket in one quick motion. The play may not have been quite as spectacular as seen on TV, but Fergus fans certainly enjoyed it.

Standing at 5-10, Cody is a feisty player on the court, particularly on defense. He is very excited about the upcoming Eastern A Divisional Tournament. With Cody’s intensity, we are looking for the Golden Eagles to make it to the Class A State Tournament in Bozeman.
