Beth Lynn Spear

Beth Lynn Spear (Broadbent), 54, went to be with her Lord and Savior the morning of Aug. 16, at her home in Buffalo, Mont., surrounded by her loving family after her long battle with cancer.

Beth was born April 1, 1962 in Billings, to Jean and Duane Broadbent. She thoroughly enjoyed growing up in the Worden community with her younger brother Tim and appreciated the closeness of having extended family nearby. After graduating from Huntley Project High School, she attended Eugene Bible College in Oregon.

Beth married her high school sweetheart, Todd Spear, on Sept. 7, 1985 in Billings. After their college educations were complete, work took them to Arlington, Wash. where they made many lifelong friends which they maintained contact with to this day. After six years the door opened for them to return to Montana and live in the Melstone area, where they continued to expand their circle of friends. After 16 years another door opened for their last move to the Buffalo community where God blessed them once again with many supportive friends.

Over their 30 years of marriage the Lord entrusted them with seven wonderful children ranging in age from 29 to seven. Even with the high demands of an agricultural lifestyle, Beth considered her family her greatest investment that brought her great joy and satisfaction in seeing them grow and flourish which ultimately flowed from her relationship with Jesus Christ.

God blessed her with a special gift of music that she readily shared with many church families over her lifetime. She loved crafts of all kinds as well as gardening and canning. Beth never met a thrift store she didn’t like. She loved to laugh and had unique sense of humor. Most importantly Beth put the needs of others before herself and she had a true servant’s heart. She was a loyal friend with a listening ear and a deep love for her family. Beth’s passing will leave a deep hole in the many lives’ that she impacted.

She is survived by her parents, Jean and Duane Broadbent of Worden, Mont., brother Tim (Cindy) of Worden, husband Todd, children Stephanie, Sarah, Sean (Erica), Seth, Suzette, Stephen, Samuel, grandson Matthias (all of Buffalo), four nieces and nephews, and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins both near and far.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, at 1 p.m. at Heights Baptist Church in Billings.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, at 1:30 p.m. at the Buffalo/Straw Cemetery in Buffalo, Mont. followed by refreshments at the Buffalo Community Church. Condolences may be shared with the family by visiting
