Fergus High School senior Sam Butcher was named to the East team for the 71st Montana East-West Shrine football game. The game will be played on July 17 at Rocky Mountain College in Billings. Named as an alternate to the game was FHS senior Cole Ayers.
Butcher and Ayers were all-conference and all-state players for Coach Vic Feller. The teammates played well on the offensive and defensive line for the Golden Eagles, who finished second in the Central A Division this fall and advanced to the Class A playoffs. Butcher’s position for the Shrine game is as an offensive guard.
Havre linebacker Jase Stokes was also named to the East squad, which will be under the direction of Billing Senior Coach Chris Murdock. Billings Senior won the Class AA state championship.
