Candidates file for County races

The opening of candidate filing for the 2018 elections was just nine days ago, but already a number of contenders have filed, and at least two positions have contested races: sheriff/coroner and county attorney.

According to Fergus County Clerk and Recorder Rana Wichman, the following candidates have filed to run:

District 3 County Commissioner: Carl Seilstad (incumbent)

County Attorney: Kent Sipe (incumbent); Rebecca “Beckie” Williams

Sheriff/Coroner: Richard W. Vaughn, W. Byron Armour

Clerk and Recorder: Rana J. Wichman (incumbent)

Treasurer: Gwenda L. Gehlen (incumbent)

Superintendent of Schools: Rhonda J. Long (incumbent)

Justice of the Peace: Kelly E. Mantooth (incumbent)

Filing closes at 8 p.m. on Monday, March 12. The primary election will be Tuesday, June 5 and the general election will be Tuesday, Nov. 6.
