“I don’t really care who wins as long as it’s a good game. If the whole room is full of Griz fans, I’m a Cats fan, it just depends on who I’m around. I always root for the underdog.” - Bill Vlastelic Photo by Katherine Sears

“Griz. I think with these games, anything can happen – that’s what is cool about this rivalry. The Griz will have to play really, really well to win. I think everyone’s excited because we haven’t had a matchup in two years.” - Scot Solberg Photo by Katherine Sears

Today, the Montana State University Bobcats will take on the University of Montana Grizzlies in the 120th “Brawl of the Wild” in Missoula. The state rivalry got its start on Nov. 26, 1897 in Bozeman, and the Grizzlies lead the series, 73-41-5. The match is the fourth oldest active rivalry in the FCS and the oldest west of the Mississippi River. A rivalry that old is not without fans in all corners of the state, including Lewistown. The News-Argus wanted to know…Who are you rooting for this Saturday, the Cats or the Griz?

Photo not available: “The teams are mirror images this year. It should be a dog fight – it’s always a dog fight. It’s fun this year because both teams are locked in to the playoffs regardless of who wins or loses. The playoffs are a given so let’s just play the game.” - Pete Moe
