Join Montana Wilderness Association and Montana Wildlife Federation as they celebrate eastern and Central Montana’s remarkable public lands with Andrew McKean, editor of “Outdoor Life,” magazine.

McKean, a Glasgow resident and avid backcountry hunter, will share stories and photos of the wild public lands he knows so well, along with his experiences living in eastern Montana and the challenges of conservation in this part of the state.

Many tracts of public land beloved by hunters in eastern and Central Montana are unprotected or under-protected, leaving the very qualities they cherish about these landscapes in jeopardy.

According to a press release from MWA, “One of the biggest threats facing these areas is oil and gas leasing under the outdated, industry-favoring federal oil and gas leasing program – specifically the practices that allow for speculative leasing by private industries on our public lands.”

McKean will discuss the threats these wildlands face, as well as opportunities to increase protections at six events across eastern and Central Montana:

Doors open at all events at 6:30 pm, with the presentation starting at 7 p.m. and concluding at 8 p.m.

The presentation for the Lewistown area will be held on Friday, March 13 at the Lewistown Art Center, 323 W Main St.

All events are free and open to the public.
