Chamber celebrates agriculture with annual tour

The changing colors of the leaves, the chilly morning temperatures and the sparkle of frost on the grass – all of these are hint at it, but when the Chamber announces the Ag Tour, you know it’s finally autumn. This year’s Ag Tour will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 4.

According to Chamber Ag Tour committee member Joe Eckhardt, this year’s tour may not cover as many miles as some, but there will be more than enough stops along the way. Riding the cushy motor coach, participants will stop at the following sites: Judith Shadows Golf Course, Kodiak Concrete, Edwards dog kennel, the Butcher Ranch on Spring Creek, the O’Halleran farm and the historic mining ghost town of Maiden. In each location, participants exit the bus and get a guided tour of the location. Historian Jerry Hanley has agreed to ride the bus and provide additional information in between stops.

Lunch is at the newly renovated Judith Mountain Lodge in Limekiln Canyon. A convoy of support vehicles follows the bus from location to location throughout the day, hauling snacks and drinks.

The event starts with registration at the First Bank of Montana parking lot, from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. The bus leaves at 8 a.m. and returns to town by 5 p.m. Reservations are required by Oct. 2. There is a fee; contact the Lewistown Area Chamber of Commerce for more information: 535-5436.
