In a unanimous decision, the Lewistown City Commission voted to approve the preliminary budget for fiscal year 2016-17 during a special meeting Monday evening at the Community Center.

Interim City Manager Holly Phelps, Lewistown Public Library Director KellyAnne Terry and Lewistown City Clerk Nikki Brummond were the only others in attendance.

Brummond said “everything is accounted for” in the budget, but a few details have to be ironed out regarding how the City is going to get some of its money from Fergus County.

There was also some discussion during the meeting about the Tax Increment Financing District’s plans for their budget. The TIF District plans to present at a future City Commission meeting regarding its plans.

The City Commissioners will meet again Monday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Community Center on West Watson Street. Approval of the final budget and making appropriations is on the agenda.
