Utica Women's Club

The Utica Women’s Club was formed in 1910. The building was built in 1953, and the Utica Day Fair started in 1975. In 2017 the Utica Day Fair will be held on Sunday, Sept. 10.

This is the Utica Women’s Club’s only fundraiser. The club uses the funds from this one-day fair to pay all expenses and maintenance on the clubhouse. The club is very generous with students in the Hobson School. Annual scholarships are awarded. Funds are given to students that go to national competitions for BPA, FFA, Speech and Drama and music. The club members annually give monetary support to the veterans’ memorial in Lewistown. When members in the community have an overnight stay in the hospital they receive a half-gallon of ice cream or a fruit basket. Shakespeare in the Park is held on the beautiful lawn at the clubhouse every year. There is a yearly cribbage tournament. It is an awesome setting for wedding and baby showers.

To give an idea of the scope and outreach of the Utica Women’s Club: Members meet once a month to do the necessary business, but also, in May, go for pizza and bowling; in June, a Father’s Day steak barbecue. In addition, the club sponsors an old-fashioned Christmas program where the area children entertain a large crowd each year. This is just a small sample of everything the Utica Women’s Club does.

The Utica Day Fair is a one-day event that is the biggest day of the year for many of the businesses all around Central Montana.

The Utica Day Fair is so awesome. It is setup in the beautiful yard surrounding the clubhouse. Vendors sell handmade items, many one-of-a-kind. The smells of food tantalize taste buds. The sight of all the homemade pies – located inside the clubhouse – makes it almost impossible to choose. The raffle of a hand-embroidered quilt, quilted center piece, reversible polar fleece quilt, ceramic platter, Hardanger doily and many other baskets of goodies will be given away to the lucky ticket holder at the end of the day.

Please come and enjoy this wonderful day and help support the Utica Women’s Club on Sunday, Sept. 10.

Other events in the area include a roast beef dinner and fundraiser at the Community Hall in Utica, put on by the Utica Rod and Gun Club on Saturday, Sept. 9. On Sunday, Sept. 10, bright and early at 7 a.m., breakfast at the Masonic Temple in Hobson, sponsored by the Masons.

The Utica Day Fair starts at 10 a.m. in Utica on the lawn at the Utica Women’s Club. At 4 p.m., all the raffle prizes will be drawn. All day on the 10th, also enjoy the BPA giant Hay Maze located halfway between Hobson and Utica, and enjoy the “What the Hay” decorated hay bales between Hobson and Windom.
