Connelly ‘Conny’ May Ellestad

Connelly May Ellestad, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 at the Central Montana Medical Center in Lewistown, Montana. Conny was born on June 14, 1939 in Great Falls, Montana to Warren C. and Bess M. Raitt.

Conny grew up in the Utica and Lewistown area, and graduated from Fergus High School in 1957. After high school she attended college in Billings, studying nursing.

She married B.W. Bent in 1962 in Harlowton, Montana and settled in the Beaver Creek area after they were married. Two sons were born to them in Lewistown, Daniel Isaac and Brian Roderick.

In 1965 the family relocated to Queensland, Australia and moved frequently while there to work on and manage various cattle stations. Conny raised her sons in the outback of Australia, where they were schooled via correspondence and radio. The family came back permanently to the states in 1976. Conny and B.W. divorced, and she worked at Pete’s Drive-In while pursuing a teaching degree. She eventually taught in the Hilger School and in Randolph, Utah.

She met and married Gerhardt Ellestad in 1990, and followed him in his chiropractic practice throughout Idaho and New Mexico until 2009. They divorced. and Conny traveled, moved and lived in various states including Oregon, Idaho, Minnesota, Arizona and Utah, eventually returning to Lewistown in 2016.

Conny was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved doing family history and temple work. She also enjoyed writing and painting.

Conny is survived by her two sons, Daniel (Tracy) Bent of Lewistown, Brian (Dana) Bent- Minnesota, her sister Nancy Measles of Kamas, Utah, and seven grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service honoring her life will be held at a later date.
