Continuing education units available for Cowboy Poetry Gathering

Wednesday, March 25, 2020

The Office of Public Instruction has approved the 2020 Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Lewistown, Aug. 13-16, for six continuing education units.

Day Headquarters for the 35th Cowboy Poetry Gathering will be at Fergus High School on Friday and Saturday. The registration desk will have information and details for teachers wanting to obtain up to six renewal units. Pin passes for access to the day sessions of cowboy poetry and western music are available at the Lewistown Art Center in advance or at the registration desk at the event.

Saturday night enjoy the Grand Stage Show at the Fergus Center for the Performing Arts, with Red Steagall and special guests Shareena Murnane of Choteau and the Carr Family Cowboy Band of Nebraska.

Each participant is required to attend six hours of sessions to qualify for the renewal units. Not every school will accept these for replacement for required yearly professional development.

Verification will be taken from each participant’s program, which must be signed by the presenter of each session attended.

Fergus County School Superintendent Rhonda Long’s signature is required on each renewal certificate. Long’s office is on the first floor of the Fergus County Courthouse or you can mail it to her for signature at 712 West Main, Suite 104, Lewistown, MT 59457. The deadline for renewal requests is Aug. 31. If renewal unit requests are not received by the deadline, requests will not be honored.

Please call if you have questions. Long’s office number is 535-3136.
