County commissioners approve employee health insurance rates

By News-Argus Staff

The Fergus County commissioners approved health insurance tiers and contributions for county employees at their April 19 meeting. County health insurance rates increased 1.8 percent, according to a memo from the Insurance Committee read by Commission presiding officer Carl Seilstad.

The commissioners unanimously approved keeping the five plans employees can choose from the same as last year, and keeping the employer contribution (the part the county pays toward each employee’s health insurance costs) the same as 2016, at $1,200. The tiers available will change to those used by the MACo Health Care Trust, and $25,000 of employee life insurance is included in the health insurance package.

 In other business:

• The commissioners approved Fire Mutual Aid agreements. Clive Rooney addressed the commission on the importance of having these agreements in place.

• The commissioners held a public hearing on a petition for annexation into the Lewistown Rural Fire District. The petition was presented by Monty Werdin. There was no public comment on the petition.
