Cover crop tour: join the Conservation District and NRCS for a day in the field

On Monday, June 27, the Fergus Conservation District and the Lewistown NRCS will host "A Day in the Field" event. Those who come and participate will be able to witness and see firsthand what all the cover crop and soil health buzz is about. There'll be a chance to tour two local farms with producers on hand to answer questions. In addition, there will be a double disk drill and stripper header on site. Marni Thompson, NRCS area resource conservationist, and Joyce Trevithick, NRCS area agronomist will present basic soil health and a rainfall simulator demonstration. Lewistown area attendees are to meet at USDA Service Center, 211 McKinley Street at 8:30 a.m. Denton area attendees will meet at the Denton School parking lot at 9:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided – please RSVP to Shonny Nordlund or Mark McLendon at 538-7401 by June 23 to be included in the provided luncheon. If there is no RSVP, please provide your own lunch.
