Daryl H. Sereday

Daryl Henry Sereday, 62, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019 in Lewistown. He was born Sept. 26, 1956 to Henry and Opal Sereday of Lewistown. Daryl grew up on upper Spring Creek with a family of four brothers and three sisters. He went to school in Lewistown and graduated from Fergus High School in 1974. He wanted to be a painter, but his dad told him it might be hard to make a living at it. Daryl went on to Vo-Tech school in Helena and received an electronic technician degree. He worked for about 35 years fixing electronics for many people.

Daryl’s passion was painting. Over the years he painted many wonderful paintings. He enjoyed showing us the paintings as much as we enjoyed seeing them, and he taught some of us how to paint. He recently painted an amazing and surprising picture for his niece which she will cherish forever more.

Our hearts are broken; we are missing our brother, friend, and uncle Daryl. We find comfort and peace knowing he is now reunited with all his family and friends who have previously passed before him.

We remember Daryl’s great sense of humor, his joking and making us all laugh. He was very entertaining. He loved to write short stories and he wrote several touching poems over the years.

Daryl loved the country. He often talked about going to the cabin for his many camping trips in the mountains with his family and friends. Daryl took the time to enjoy life. A good friend said on the way out camping they pulled over just to lay down in a grassy meadow and enjoyed looking at the clouds. He was very devoted to his favorite dog, Skinner/ Skinny that he loved very much. His fondness for animals was obvious as he enjoyed painting pictures of wildlife and scenery. In some pictures the fine details of the hair you could see was spectacular. He was famous for his little ant he painted in his pictures. We would all be hovered over his painting trying to find the ant. He would laugh and say, “Keep looking, it’s there.” Sometimes he would have to show us where it was.

Daryl was a very gentle, kindhearted, sensitive man. He was an extremely talented local artist, and loved his family and friends. He enjoyed playing his guitar. He had a fun lovable spirit. Daryl never married, but he had very meaningful and significant relationships throughout his life. He had many family members and friends who deeply care for him.

Daryl is survived by his siblings, David (Sue) Sereday, Beverly (Rick) Halverson, Doug (Linda) Sereday, Susan (Bruce) Hinkley, and Dennis (Almyra) Sereday; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; cousins; and many more.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Opal Sereday; brother, Dominic Sereday; sister, Sandra Eastman; brother-in-law, Ronald Pospisil; and nephew-in-law, Wayne Arcand.

Please join us in remembering Daryl’s life and his adventures. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, at Celebration Community Fellowship. Memorial donations in honor of Daryl can be left with the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the care of Creel Funeral Home. Daryl’s family and friends can share memories and condolences at www.creelfuneralhome.com.
