Dead deer on road claims life of Grass Range woman

A one-vehicle accident occurred Sunday, Oct. 23 at approximately 10:15 a.m., 23 miles east of Lewistown on Highway 87 near mile marker 107, according to Toole County Acting Coroner Dan Whitted. An SUV driven by Roxann Roe, 64, of Grass Range, was west bound when her vehicle struck a deer lying in the highway. Roe lost control of the vehicle and rolled at least twice off the right side of the road into a field. She was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. A male passenger in the vehicle was air lifted to a Billings Hospital.

Investigating agencies are the Montana Highway Patrol, Fergus County Sheriff’s Office and the Fergus County Coroner’s Office.
