Department of Transportation proposes resurfacing 7th Avenue, 1st Street

The Montana Department of Transportation would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to overlay about 0.58 miles of Seventh Avenue North and First Street West in Lewistown. The project begins at the intersection of West Boulevard Street and Seventh Avenue, at reference post 0.16, and extends northeasterly for 0.58 miles ending near the intersection of Sixth Avenue (Truck Bypass) and First Street, at reference post 0.74.

Proposed work includes milling along the edge of the street, applying a new overlay, upgraded pavement markings and signage, and updating sidewalk ramps in front of Highland Park Elementary School. The purpose of the project is to preserve and extend the life of the existing asphalt surfacing and to provide a safe roadway for the traveling public.

The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in the summer of 2017, depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding. No new right-of-way or utility relocations are anticipated.
