Edith Jane Carpenter, 71, known mostly as Jane, passed away July 30 at Central Montana Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lewistown.

Jane was born in Lewistown on July 2, 1947 to Meredith and Colleen (Craig) Knerr. Her father was in construction and they traveled a lot.

In October of 1968, Jane married Curt Fowler and together they purchased a ranch from her uncle up New Year Gulch. Jane and Curt had five children together: Phil, Glen, Sherra, Clint, and Carl.

Jane enjoyed gardening and all kinds of plants and flowers. She also loved horses and animals of every kind and collecting rocks for her collection and arrowheads.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Meredith “Buster” Knerr; sisters, Peggy Dell Knerr and Betty Jo Knerr; and infant son, Glen Fowler.

She is survived by her children, Phil (Pam) Fowler, Sherra (Marty) Dahl, Clint Fowler, and Carl (Stacy) Fowler; grandchildren, Nick and Brian Fowler, Miranda Hurr and Taylor Dahl, Colton, Justin, and Garrett Fowler, Casey and Helaina Fowler; great-grandchildren, Dillon, Caleb and Nikole Fowler, Hayley and Hayden Fowler, Trylan Parsons and Rowan Swenson; numerous nieces and nephews; and her cats, Johmmy and Stinky

At her request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. A donation in Jane’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
