Elizabeth Grace Mentzer “Lizzy” passed away on Aug. 27, in Lewistown, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Lizzy was born in La Grande, Oregon on April 13, 2001. She moved to Roundup at a young age and fell in love with the Musselshell River. Liz spent countless hours swimming, fishing, and playing on the river. She attended Roundup Central Elementary and Junior High. Lizzy moved to Lewistown with her family in July 2015, ecstatic at the possibilities of attending a larger school. She was just beginning her senior year at Fergus High School and was looking forward to attending Montana State University next fall.

Lizzy was active in 4-H when her family lived near Roundup, and more recently she participated in speech and drama, snowboarding, and cross country through Fergus High School. She enjoyed her church youth group and helping with AWANA. She loved her pets, traveling, and spending time with her friends and her family.

Lizzy was a talented artist, who would spend countless hours in her room creating her latest masterpiece. This artistic talent was extended to her vocals, and she could often be heard singing for long periods without ever being seen. Her dark sense of humor was appreciated by most, and was one of her many forms of expression. Family was very important to Liz, and she spent many a weekend with her brothers and sisters watching movies, fishing, hiking, or enjoying a day of shopping in Billings. Lizzy thoroughly enjoyed her many times at Lewtana Bible Camp and her “alone time” at the library or East Fork Reservoir.

Lizzy will be remembered for her strong will, strong values and beautiful heart. She will be greatly missed by many here on earth, but will continue to sing in Heaven. Lizzy is survived by her parents: father, Tommy Mentzer of Ukiah, Oregon; her mother and stepfather, Bruce and Paula Walker of Lewistown. Siblings: Sarah Tvetene (Don) of Billings; Laura Bies (Jake) of Billings; Stephanie Swaim (Jeremy) of Billings; Remington LeClair of Bozeman; Thomas Mentzer of Bozeman; and Orrin and Olivia Walker of Lewistown. Grandparents: Norman and Shirley Mentzer of Pendleton, Oregon; Sonja Jessen of Boardman, Oregon; Tom Perry of Roundup; and Lita and Bob Townsend of Pendleton, Oregon; Patricia Walker of Huntley; Richard Walker of Huntley. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 1 at 3 p.m. at the Central Baptist Church, 195 Mile Drive, Lewistown. Condolences may be mailed to the family at 138 Railroad Lane, Lewistown, Montana 59457.
