The Fergus Lady Golden Eagles Basketball team got off to a good start in the Eastern A Divisional Tournament in Billings, but, sadly, all things come to an end.

On Thursday morning, their luck ran out, as they fell short against the Glendive Lady Red Devils, 38-32 in a low-scoring, defensive battle.

From the get-go, fans knew this game would be decided by which team had the best defense and not the best offense, as both teams struggled to get things going due to intense guarding on both sides.

Hanna Hayes led all scorers with 13 points. Anna Zimmer added seven for the Eagles and Haydn Potter contributed five. Wyniah Mintz led the Red Devils with 10 points and Carrie Nagle had 7 in the balanced attack.

Wednesday’s Cinderella story could not be created Thursday, as the Lady Golden Eagles trailed by double digits and could not find their way back into the game. Led by Erika Mad Plume and Ronnal Jordan, the Indians were too much to take, hitting their shots at a higher percentage and exposing the Golden Eagles’ weaknesses. The Eagles were held to 14 points in the second half. Mad Plume led all scorers with 15 points. Gracia Butcher led the Eagles with 10. Hanna Hayes scores seven while Haydn Potter and Anna Zimmer both collected six points apiece.
