Former resident Sarah Skipper, who went to high school in Lewistown, returns to the area on Sunday, July 31 as part of the folk music band The Riverside. The band will play a free show Sunday at 5 p.m. at the big red barn on the Merrill ranch in Buffalo.

Skipper moved to Santa Barbara, California three years ago, which is where she joined The Riverside band. For the past year the band has been playing local shows in southern California, and working on ways to pursue music professionally.

Band members kicked off their first tour on July 14, playing in a contest for up-and-coming artists at the Northwestern String Summit in North Plains, Oregon. The tour included playing in Oregon for a week, then heading north to Seattle where they played two shows with The Hasslers, featuring lead singer/guitarist Matt Hassler, also from Lewistown.

After Seattle, the band heads east to Montana. Skipper said her college roommate, Kallie (Merrill) Farley, provided the connection to  Buffalo.

Skipper said those wishing to listen to the music of The Riverside can use the following links: http://noisetrade.com/theriversideriver or https://www.facebook.com/TheRiversideSantaBarbara/.
