Not to be outdone by the Golden Eagle football team, the Fergus varsity volleyball squad swept Park in three sets, 25-17, 25-14 and 25-14, for their homecoming win.
The Golden Eagles were led by the sold hitting of Ajiah Ross and Anna Zimmer, who had eight kills each. As a team, Fergus had 31 kills against just 12 from the Lady Rangers. Mikayla Comes did a fine job of setting the hitters up as she had 23 of the team’s 27 assists. Carley Carpenter led the Golden Eagles in blocks with three and in digs with 10. Comes added eight digs. Bailey Collins scored three of the team’s nine ace serves.
In conference matches, Collins leads the Central A in serving percentage at 100 percent. Comes is in second place at 96.9 percent. Dani Gapay also is in the top 10 in serving percentage with 93.8 percent.
In overall matches, Carpenter has a serving percentage of 92.8 percent, followed by Comes with a 92.5 percent.
Thursday, the Golden Eagles travel to Great Falls to play Great Falls High in a non-conference match. Friday, the team will battle Havre at home in an important conference match for both squads. On Saturday, the volleyball teams travel to Browning to face the Lady Indians in another conference match.
