First Security Bank joins First Bank of Montana

Inter-Mountain Bancorp, Inc., the Bozeman-based holding company for First Security Bank, has entered into an agreement to join the Glacier Bancorp family of banks. Pending Board and regulatory approval, First Security will officially be under the Glacier Bancorp umbrella in early 2018. The new relationship will eventually lead to First Security Bank’s Golden Triangle locations joining First Bank of Montana under the First Bank name.

Mike Johnson, Northern Market manager of First Security Bank, shared his thoughts:

“As a fourth generation banker in this region of Montana, I am proud to be part of forming what will be a new powerhouse of an ag bank here. We’re very fortunate to be able to expand our reach and have such high-quality staff in all the markets we’ll be serving.”

Dean Comes, president and CEO of First Bank of Montana, agreed:

“We’re excited to be joining forces with another strong ag bank in Central Montana. The combination of our two banks and now eight branch locations means that we are fully diversified in ag – beef, beer and bread – and we couldn’t be prouder.”

First Security Bank has 11 branches and two loan production offices serving southwest and central Montana. First Bank of Montana has two branches: one in Fergus County and one in Blaine County. First Security Bank’s northern locations will merge with First Bank of Montana, while First Security Bank’s Gallatin Country branches will join Big Sky Western Bank, a Glacier Bancorp division based in Bozeman.

Glacier Bancorp, based in Kalispell, owns the original Glacier Banks and has grown to include community banks throughout seven western states. They use a community banking model, giving local banks autonomy in each market. This allows each community bank to continue serving the specific needs of each community, while offering the benefits of being part of a larger organization.
