Frank Duane “Kraut” Kucera

Frank Duane “Kraut” Kucera, 82, passed away Sept. 11, 2019 at his home in Lewistown. Kraut was born July 1, 1937 in Lewistown to Frank Kucera, Jr. and Marjorie Mavis (Getsman) Kucera.

Kraut attended Fergus High School. On March 23, 1963 he married Susan Lois Gremaux in Lewistown. Kraut enjoyed his grandkids and great-grandkids more than anything.

He spent his career working in logging and road construction as an operator and mechanic. He was a member of F.O.E., the Trailduster Car Club and Jason’s Twirlers. Kraut also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and he was an amateur inventor, especially his famous wieney roaster.

Kraut was preceded in death by his father, Frank, Jr.; mother, Marjorie Kramlich; step-father, Hap Kramlich; sister, Vonda Lee Flechsing; brothers, Rocky and Ronnie Kramlich; and grandparents, Fred Getsman, Mary A. Sheilds, Frank Kucera, Sr. and Agnes Prochazkova.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Michael (Laurie) Novotny, Keith (Kim) Kucera, Kevin (Jeanna) Kucera and Krista (Rodney) Rowton; grandchildren, Leanne, Brian, Alisha, Kayla, Keith, Rylee, Madison, Eryn, Thad, Braden and Kendyl; great-grandchildren, Kierra, Treyton, Jarrett, Cadence, Braxton and Brynn; and siblings, Robert, Dona and Roger Kramlich.

Memorials in memory of Kraut may be made to the Central Montana Hospice crew for the wonderful care they give to families.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, Sept. 20, 2019, 1 p.m. at the Eagles Club; cremation has taken place.
