Highway 87 work continues

Sidewalk in front of the Yogo soon to be completed

Century’s crews will be wrapping up storm drain installation in the near future. The storm drain work is progressing to the west from the front of the Super 8 Hotel. Most of this work will be completed without the use of flaggers. There will be flagging stations set up when crews run storm drain across Highway 87 in front of Stockman Bank. Expect wait times of approximately five minutes. This work will require one-lane traffic at times through the work zone.

Earthwork operations will continue, primarily on the truck route from the far west end of the project by Wolverine Creek to the northeast past Bass Auction. Flaggers and a pilot car will be in place on this portion of the project. Wait times at these flagging stations will be approximately eight minutes, depending on traffic volume.

Road crews will be placing gravel on the new sections of Highway 87 and the truck route in the coming weeks.

Please obey all traffic control signs and drive in designated areas as directed by the traffic control devices. Please refrain from driving on the shoulders of the highway as crews are working in these areas and it poses a safety issue for personnel on the ground. The driving lanes for motorists navigating through the work zones are marked with delineators or channelizing devices to help drivers stay in the active traveled way. Please do not go outside or beyond these delineators as that is closed to traffic and crews are working in these areas. Driving in areas closed to traffic poses a serious risk to drivers and construction personnel on the ground. Traffic control crews and flaggers will be watching this closely.

East side projects

Concrete crews will be completing the sidewalk work in front of the Yogo Inn in the coming days. Century’s concrete crews will then move to the other side of East Main Street and install new sidewalk and curb from Dawes Street to High Street. For pedestrians walking in the areas where sidewalks are under construction, please observe the sidewalk closure signs and use alternate routes around the work area. This is for the safety of the public and the construction workers.

At this time, Century Companies Inc. would like to remind motorists to always expect the unexpected when driving through work zones. Motorists are advised to watch for work crews, heavy equipment and reduced speed limits. Posted limits are enforced until signs indicate the work zone has ended. Fines will double in work zones.

Road construction plays a crucial role in maintaining safe roadways and travel throughout Montana. Century Companies Inc. asks that motorists practice patience when approaching construction zones. Travelers should expect delays and are encouraged to adjust their travel times accordingly. Century Companies Inc. is dedicated to expediting this project and apologizes for any inconvenience it may cause.
