Hobson School announces trustee position

This year’s School Election date is Tuesday, May 2. The Hobson School has one trustee term expiring this year. It is currently held by Shawn (Tater) Erickson and is a three-year term.
For anyone interested in running for a school board position, Declaration of Intent forms may be picked up at the school business office. All petitions must be returned to the election administrator, Sherri Bergstrom, by 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 23. No candidate may appear on the ballot unless he or she meets this deadline. Signatures are no longer required on the petition. The petition needs to be signed and notarized.
The deadline for write-in candidates to file a declaration of intent is 5 p.m. on March 30.
Absentee ballots will be available from the District Clerk by April 12. Ballots may be requested up until noon of May 1 and returned to the District Clerk by noon on May 2. If a voter has a health emergency between 5 p.m. the Friday before the election (April 28) and noon on Election Day (May 2), an emergency request for an absentee ballot may be made by noon on May 2.
Late voter registration is closed between noon and 5 p.m. the day before the election (May 1); however, electors may late register on Election Day (May 2) at the office of the County Election Administrator.
OPI has not released the preliminary budget numbers for the 2017-18 year. The word from Helena is that funds are short this year and that will not be good for school budgets. Hobson will wait for the final budget numbers from OPI, which will be March 1, before setting the levy amount. The Hobson School goal will continue to be fiscal responsibility in order to provide a quality education for students.
Anyone with questions concerning budget or the upcoming election is encouraged to contact Superintendent Clay Dunlap or District Clerk Sherri Bergstrom.
