When the Shakespeare in the Park players arrived in the area, they stopped at the Utica Women’s Clubhouse where they were treated to a homemade lunch provided by several members of the Hobson Women’s Club. Rosalie Bruchez coordinated the meal with the help of Nell Blair, Irene Welch and Marlene Haack. Audrey Miller and Jan Thomas also contributed food.
Their meal menu consisted of roast beef, gravy, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, green bean casserole, homemade dinner rolls, green salad, and fresh rhubarb pie, along with tea and coffee. The hungry group of players ate heartily before heading out to set up their equipment for their free performance that evening of Richard III on the Clubhouse lawn. They were very thankful for the great meal, and let the cooks know it. This is an annual project for the Hobson Women’s Club to provide the noon meal for these players.
