I support Kent Sipe

Saturday, September 29, 2018

Dear Editor,

I support Kent Sipe for County Attorney. I know Kent. He worked for me in the past. I know his character. I know his work ethic. I know his integrity. I was the County Attorney for Fergus County for 25 years. I retired just over two years ago. At that time, the County Commissioners appointed Kent to fill my unexpired four-year term. Kent has earned your vote through hard work and dedicated public service.

Kent is an experienced prosecutor. Prior to his appointment as the Fergus County Attorney, he served 10 years as the County Attorney for Musselshell and Golden Valley Counties. In that job, he gained the respect and support of county commissioners, law enforcement officers, and those in the court system. He has done the same here, in Fergus County.

Kent has a strong sense of justice. He knows the criminal law and enforces it even handedly. He is a tireless supporter of victims, and represents their interests in the criminal justice system. He works long hours and often gets called on evenings or weekends to prepare arrest or search warrants for law enforcement officers.

Kent is fiscally responsible and sensitive to the concerns of Fergus County taxpayers. In the past two fiscal years, Kent has been under his approved budget a total of $70,000.

Most importantly, Kent is a man of integrity. He is honest, conscientious, straightforward, and treats his co-workers and community members with respect. His office is open to any community member who has a question or concern.

I support him. I hope you support him.

Tom Meissner

Retired Fergus County Attorney
