James “Jim” Rex Haney Jr was born October 30, 1948 in St. Joseph, Mo. to James and Violet Haney, Sr. At a young age, Jim and his family moved and put roots down in Winslow, Ariz. Jim attended school in Winslow, graduating high school in 1966, and then attended college for a short time after graduation. He joined the Air Force in 1972, serving as a medic until he was honorably discharged in 1976. During Jim’s time in the Air Force, he married Pam Roach. They divorced in 1977, but remained good friends. After his military service, he then worked in the coal mine in Gillette, Wyo.; but left due to injuries. Jim then made his way to Centennial, Wyo. and lived as a mountain man for a year. Jim’s experience as being a medic in the Air Force led to his decision to become a registered nurse in 1983, attending college in Casper, Wyo. In 1992, Jim moved to Pinedale, Wyo. and was working at a retirement home when he met a hairdresser, Stacey Hart. The two were married on October 10, 2007 in one of their favorite places, Jackson Hole, Wyo.

Jim and Stacey moved to Boulder, Mont. in 2008, and Jim continued his nursing career, working with the elder and at the Montana Developmental Center, until his retirement in 2014. He and Stacey moved to Lewistown in 2015, and he resided there until his death on September 19, 2022.

Jim was an avid hunter, with his main passion being turkey hunting. He went on many big game hunts and gained many life-long friends through the sport.
