Joann Ethlyn Armstrong Macomber


On Sunday, Sept. 18, Joann Ethlyn Armstrong Macomber passed away peacefully at home. She lived 81 wonderful years and the family is grateful she did not suffer any long illness prior to her passing.

Joann was born on March 20, 1935 in Whitefish, Mont. to Joseph and Anna Armstrong. On June 30, 1956, she married Tommy E. Macomber in Whitefish.

She was retired from Albertsons, a member of the Moose Lodge and an avid bowler. A member of the Red Hat Society, she also participated with Meals on Wheels. Joann’s hobbies included crocheting, knitting and embroidery. She loved to travel and visiting with everyone in Lewistown. 

Joann is preceded in death by her son, Steven E. Macomber; her husband, Tommy E. Macomber; and her brother William J. Armstrong.

She is survived by Kathryn and Carl DeBelly; Dan Macomber; Teresa Lamphier; grandchildren Joshua DeBelly, Amy Arnold, Carl George “C.G.” DeBelly, Cieara Macomber, William Macomber, Renee Schell, Nicholas Lamphier and Jessica Lamphier. 

Service for Joann will be held on Monday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Lewistown with reception to follow at the Moose.
