John Carl Linse

John Carl Linse, 100, of Stanford, passed away on Monday, Aug. 15, in Lewistown.

Carl was born in Denton on Feb. 22, 1916 to Laura Wade (Law) and John Carl Linse. He graduated from Denton High School and went on to attend Montana State College (MSU).

During WWII, from March 1942 to October 1945, Carl served his country in the US Army as a member of the 67th Armored Regiment, during which time he served in North Africa, Sicily, Normandy and Germany.

On July 25, 1953 Carl married Margery Ruth Swanson in Chicago, Ill. During his working days Carl was a private pilot, farmer and a business owner. He was active in his community as a member of Flying Farmers, the American Legion and the First Presbyterian Church of Stanford.

His parents, John and Laura; wife, Margery; brothers, Cecile, Virgil and Vince Linse preceded him in death.

Carl is survived by his sons, Paul (Virginia) Linse of Meridian, Idaho and Sam Linse of Whidbey Island, Wash.

Interment will be Saturday, Aug. 20, 10 a.m. at the Stanford Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented by the Stanford American Legion Post #53 and the Montana Honor Guard. A Celebration of Life service (following the graveside service) will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the First Presbyterian Church of Stanford at 10:30 a.m.
