John Eugene Kippenhan

John Eugene Kippenhan, 72, of Lewistown died Sunday morning, Dec. 17, 2017 at his home in Lewistown of natural causes. He was born Aug. 24, 1945 in Roundup, Montana, the son of John and Mildred (Lawson) Kippenhan. He was the first of three children, sisters Kathlyn and Linda (Fisher).  The family moved to Lewistown in September, 1945, and then in Casa Grand, Arizona from December, 1951, until May of 1952 when they returned to Lewistown. 

He completed his education in Lewistown and then entered the United States Air Force in August of 1962. He was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield California as Airman Basic Air Specialist Cargo Handler, unloading caskets of fallen American serviceman from the Vietnam War. He received his honorable discharge in March of 1965.  

He then returned to Lewistown and in February of 1967 he was united in marriage to Faye Nadine Schielkie and to this union was born a son, Floyd John. They divorced in 1971. John continued living in Lewistown and in May of 1972 he was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Long and they had a son Dean Marvin. She preceded him in death in 1997. In April of 2003 he was united in marriage to Luella May Hill, and they separated in 2005.

He is survived by sons Floyd of Lewistown and Dean of Billings; six grandchildren: Harley, Axel, Race, Jennine, Jessica, Kaylee and Amanda; and ten great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services for John E. Kippenhan will be held later, cremation has taken place. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
