Thursday in Hobson, Denton-Geyser-Stanford travels to Hobson to face Tri-City. Currently, the Lady Titans are in fourth place in the District 8C standings, while the Lady Bearcats are in sixth place with a 1-7 conference mark. The Lady Titans fell to Roy-Winifred, 42-34, in Winifred on Saturday. DGS fell to Winnett-Grass Range, 43-19, on Saturday. Friday the Lady Bearcats won a non-conference game against Big Sandy, 52-39. The Randel sisters combined for 30 of the 52 Lady Bearcat points in the win against Big Sandy. Senior Kyra Randel had 20 points, while sophomore Cassidy Randel added 10 points.
In the game between Roy-Winifred and Tri-City (Moore, Hobson, Judith Gap) in Winifred, the Lady Outlaws jumped to a 9-4 lead after the first period. Roy-Winifred led at halftime, 19-11.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Titan defense became more active. Sami Connerton had a steal for the Lady Titans and rushed to the other end of the court. Connerton pulled up lame after passing the ball and finished the game on the bench for Tri-City. The Lady Titans did score on the play to cut the Roy-Winifred lead to 28-22, but a field goal by Lorianne Stulc upped the Lady Outlaw advantage to 30-22. The injury to Connerton seemed to take the wind of the sails of the Lady Titans as they were never able to cut into the Lady Outlaw lead again. Roy-Winifred secured the 42-34 win. Kristen Vincent led Tri-City with 15 points.
On Friday, the Lady Outlaws entered the den of the Lady Huskies in Belt. Roy-Winifred was able to play Belt tough, but in the end the Lady Huskies came away with a 55-43 win. Stulc led the Roy-Winifred attack with 17 points, while Dani Urick had 19 points for Belt.
In the most exciting contest of the weekend, Winnett-Grass Range secured a 45-44 win over Centerville in Grass Range on Friday. The Lady Rams were led by 14 points from Sydney Browning, while Brynn Jolma added 13 points.
Makayla Paul had 14 points for the Lady Miners, and Cecilia Vielle added 13 points.
In other conference matchups this weekend, DGS travels to Highwood on Friday to face Geraldine-Highwood. Also on Friday, the Lady Titans invade the Lady Huskies’ den in Belt.
Saturday contests include Geraldine-Highwood versus Winnett-Grass Range in Winnett and Centerville versus Roy-Winifred in Winifred.
Next weekend will mark the end of regular season play for Class C schools.
