Larry Dean Johnson was born Sept. 4, 1952 in Lewistown, to Harvey and Doris Johnson of Moore. After a courageous battle with cancer, Larry passed away July 11.

Larry grew up on his parent’s ranch seven miles south of Moore (Trout Creek Community). He attended school at Moore, graduating from Moore High School in 1971.

He fulfilled his military obligation enlisting in the U.S. Air Force, ending his time in the military stationed in the Philippines and flying missions to Vietnam.

While serving in the military he married Anita Exley of Elkhart, Indiana. A son, Robert Douglas, was born while they were stationed in the Philippines.

Larry and family returned to the U.S., settling in Indiana. Larry and Anita were divorced. He later married Lisa Lempke. To this marriage, a son, Aaron and daughter, Amanda were born. Larry and Lisa also divorced. Larry worked 25 years for Miles Laboratories in Indiana. He retired and moved to Townsend.

Larry is survived by his mother, Doris McCorkindale of Lewistown; his children, son Robert Douglas, Los Angeles, California; daughter Amanda (Brien) Kief, Trail Creek, Indiana; and son, Aaron (Brittini) Johnson, La Porte, Indiana; his grandchildren, Emma Kief, Trail Creek, Indiana; Ava, Audrey, Lucas, Elliot Johnson, La Porte, Indiana; one brother, John (Colleen) Johnson, La Center, Washington and one sister Teri (Jim) Christofferson, Lynden, Washington.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Johnson, a baby brother and both sets of grandparents.

Larry was blessed with knowing two very special friends/ care givers, Jeff and Carla Sewart, who stood by him, taking him to doctors, hospitals, bringing food, etc. for the last three years of his life.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside memorial will be held Sunday, Aug. 5 at the Moore Cemetery.
