Letter to the Editor - Tax bill as proposed is unfair

Dear Editor,

The tax bill working its way through the United States Senate is simply a blatant corporate take over of America. The proposed doubling of the estate tax limit from $11 million to $22 million, the slashing of the alternative minimum tax, the reduction of the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 20 percent may sound good, but these actions are simply giveaways to the super wealthy 1 percent.

I’ve read these unfair tax cuts will lead to an additional one and one-half trillion dollars added to the national debt. Ultimately, legislators will have to address these massive deficits by cutting more Medicaid services and, no doubt, Medicare and Social Security benefits. Moreover, it appears an estimated 13 million Americans could lose health insurance coverage because of the elimination of the individual mandate of the Affordable Care Act.

I would encourage all Central Montanans to contact Senator Daines and Senator Tester and express your concerns regarding this terribly unfair piece of legislation.
