Despite putting up with some miserable weather on Saturday evening, July 2 in Glasgow, the Lewistown Sea Lion swim team finished second at the annual Kiwanis Thunder Invitational in Glasgow. The meet was able to continue on Sunday through its completion.
Alex Wickens won all three of his events at the meet, which included the 200 individual medley, the 100 breaststroke and the 100 backstroke. Several other Sea Lions captured two first-place finishes. They were Madeline Denton in the 100 individual medley and 50 breaststroke, Noah Majerus in the 100 freestyle and the 400 freestyle, Kieran Netburn in the 100 individual medley and 50 butterfly, and Kari Pederson in the 100 individual medley and 50 freestyle. Winning one first-place award for the Sea Lions were Catherine de Guzman in the 50 butterfly, Royce Robinson in the 50 breaststroke and Caleb Russell in the 100 butterfly.
Competing at the Plains Swim Meet on June 25 and 26 were three Sea Lions. Caleb Russell and Wickens both placed first in all three of their individual events at the meet, while Megan Maxwell finished with two seconds and a fourth at Plains.
This past weekend the Sea Lions competed at a meet in Glendive. This coming weekend, July 16 and 17, there are meets in both Sidney and Fort Benton. Those meets will be the final ones of the regular season. This year’s eastern divisional meet will be held in Malta on July 23 and 24. The following weekend is the state meet at Hamilton.
