Lloyd Allen Carrell, 71, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. He was born on April 21, 1947 in Lewistown to George and Virginia Huffman Carrell. They lived at Cat Creek at the time, later moving into Winnett where Lloyd attended school.

Lloyd went to auto body school in Fargo, North Dakota. He worked at body shops in Lewistown and Great Falls before moving back to Winnett and working for his dad at Cat Creek. He married Vickie Hanson in August of 1969. They moved to Cut Bank where he worked for Haliburton. Their son, Charles Russell, was born in Cut Bank. Lloyd was transferred to Havre and that is where their son Brandon Jacob was born. He was transferred to Rock Springs, Wyoming in 1974. Lloyd and Vickie were later divorced.

Lloyd and his sons moved to Powell, Wyoming in 1982 where he started working for Cenex. He was transferred to Cat Creek in 1988. Lloyd married Karen Baucke in September of 1990. Karen brought to the union two little girls, Lindsey Marie (age 4) and Nicole Sally Kristin (age 3). Lloyd later adopted them, one of the happiest days of his life. In 1994, Lloyd and Melvin Eike purchased the Cat Creek oil field. In 1995, Lloyd and Karen bought out Melvin’s half and it became Carrell Oil Company.

Lloyd and Karen later divorced. Lloyd continued to operate the field until the time of his death. Lloyd would proudly tell you he is “Oil Field Trash.” He was the third generation of four that worked at Cat Creek, starting with his grandfather, J. A. Carrell in the 1920s, then his father, George Carrell, then Lloyd and both of his sons, Chuck and Brandon. No doubt Samantha, Sheyenne, Cassady and Clancy would tell you they were the fifth generation to work out there. They just weren’t on the payroll. Lloyd was never happier than when he was going down the highway on his Harley Davidson. He loved going down to the Musselshell to go cat fishing and he loved to cook on the grill.

Survivors include: sons, Chuck (Beth), Brandon (Stacey); daughters, Lindsey and Colie; grandchildren, Samantha (Jared) Robertson, Sheyenne, Cassady, Clancy Carrell, Ally Filz, Julian and Mya Hanson, Grace Weaver and Faith Hanson; great-granddaughter, Aleina Rose Robertson; brothers, Larry (Kathi) and Kim (Heidi); and his favorite sister, Doris; and nephew, Wes Carrell. He is also survived by many, many very good friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, George; and niece, Becky.

Services are pending and will be held later; cremation has taken place. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice

Arrangements are under the care of Creel Funeral Home. Lloyd’s family and friends can share memories and condolences at www.creelfuneralhome.com.
