LPD warns community about credit card scam

The Lewistown Police Department received several reports of suspicious telephone calls regarding credit cards.

The basis of this scam is a person receives a call from a local cell phone number. These numbers are possibly being cloned using a computer software program. The caller then attempts to obtain money and other personal information by discussing credit cards and interest rates.

The Lewistown Police Department again reminds everyone not to give out personal information or money when the telephone call is unsolicited. If you receive a call regarding your credit cards, hang up and call your card’s customer service department.

You can report this activity to your local law enforcement agency and the Federal Trade Commission at (877) 382-4357.
